ALETA ALMA
GOOD GIRL, INCONVENIENT ANSWERS
For Aleta Alma, school comes first. Porn, shoots, travel? Sure, but they’ll have to work around her class schedule. When she sat down with RDX, she was twenty, studying journalism, and calmly dismantling other people’s ideas about what a college student’s life should look like.
Especially a college student who works as an escort, shoots adult films, and responds to attempts to uncover some life-changing drama with “Why not?”
We’ll admit it. We were expecting a longer story.
SHE DOESN’T FIT YOUR THEORY
Heartbreak? No. She split up with her boyfriend before entering the industry and sees no connection between the two. Dreams of fame? Wrong again. Ask about future stardom, and she offers a perfectly down-to-earth answer: we’ll see.
It started with a friend who had already filmed with Martin Spell. Her friend suggested she give it a try. Aleta agreed. No thunder, no lightning, no three-page internal monologue.
It’s easy to miss the personality behind that simplicity. While everyone else searches for an explanation for her choices, she feels no obligation to pick one from their list. Especially the one labeled “too sweet and educated for this kind of work.”
An interesting compliment, that. First you praise a woman, then ask her to explain why she made a decision without taking your praise into account.
CLASS FIRST. EVERYTHING ELSE LATER.
Her schedule includes college, shoots, work, and the gym. At the gym, she lifts weights. At college, she’s tackled subjects including philosophy, economics, and law, with some classes taught in English.
There was also a summer study program in China focused on advertising and design. So asking where she’s traveled can take the conversation pretty far from what you might expect to read on a porn actress’s profile.
Aleta takes a practical approach to her education. She runs her own channel, buys advertising, produces videos, and handles editing. At the time of the interview, she had almost eleven thousand subscribers. Ask whether journalism will come in handy, and it turns out she hasn’t waited for a diploma to start building an audience.
Study how media works during the day, then apply it to your own content? Somebody has to do the homework.
THE PORN ACTRESS WHO DOESN’T WATCH PORN
Yes, you read that correctly. Aleta says she finds watching porn unpleasant. Performing in a scene and watching someone else’s on a screen are entirely different experiences for her.
This is where we’re supposed to tactfully change the subject. It’s an awkward detail for a promotional bio. But details like that make a person more interesting than a profile.
She won’t name ten favorite genres just to give us a polished answer. She won’t pretend to be an industry expert. Working on camera doesn’t mean she wants to spend her evening watching other people’s videos.
We suspect the audience has enough enthusiasm to cover her share.
ROUND-THE-CLOCK ACCESS ISN’T INCLUDED
Aleta’s personal life is so full that there hasn’t been room for a boyfriend: school, work, the gym. She lists them without complaining about being single. Judging by her schedule, even a free evening takes some effort.
Her work doesn’t make her attention endlessly available, either. She says she doesn’t keep up conversations with clients outside work-related matters. Someone else developing feelings doesn’t automatically oblige her to answer their messages.
Would she leave the profession for a future relationship? It depends on the circumstances. She isn’t ready to make promises to a man who isn’t even in her life yet.
Fair enough. Some people manage to negotiate the breakup before the first date.
CARNEGIE, TRAVEL, AND A PLACE OF HER OWN
Outside work, Aleta reads. At the time of our conversation, she was reading Dale Carnegie. She enjoys traveling and says most of her trips have been for herself, whether to relax or study.
None of this fits neatly into a biography with a single theme. But a person, unlike a tagline, is allowed to have several interests.
Her approach to long-term plans is interesting, too. First she says she lives for today. Then she lists her goals: pay off her apartment, buy a car. Apparently, living for today includes some fairly substantial purchases.
No promises to become the defining star of her generation. For now, a home, a car, and the freedom to choose her next move will do nicely.
THE BIOGRAPHY IS STILL BEING WRITTEN
What’s appealing about Aleta Alma is her refusal to attach a grand explanation to every choice. She wanted to try something, so she said yes. School matters, so it stays a priority. She doesn’t know what the future holds, so she won’t invent an answer for our benefit.
She can change her mind, revise her plans, or find a new interest. That’s natural for a twenty-year-old woman. Even if the audience has already opened her profile and decided it knows everything about her.
She may well become a journalist. But the accommodating interview subject who confirms every theory the host brings to the table? That role isn’t working out.
